Partnerships

Our Upper School Buddies came in for a final visit this week. We will continue the partnership with Debby Schauffler's English class- but this particular semester is coming to an end. So our group will consist of some new teenagers for the Spring. During this last gathering the US students brought their favorite childhood books in and took turns reading these stories and sharing what it is they love about them. In turn the Pre-K students grabbed some of their favorite stories from our in-class library and shared them too- the whole experience was so sweet and lasted for nearly 45 minutes!

Debby gathered some comments from her students about their experience with OES's youngest learners. Here is what they had to say:

"I absolutely loved working with the Pre-K. Coco inspired me to see glitter in a new light and to truly appreciate the value of pumpkins and poorly drawn zebras."
"I enjoyed it. Addie was so like me, it was so fun getting to know her. There is a lot going on with all of them, they can be a bit of a handful for sure J… but I think working with little kids was a highlight of class."
"I appreciated the occasional break from the classroom & the partnership gave me valuable experience with little children."
"I LOVE Carl. He is great."
"I thought it was awesome! They really came out of their shells and connected with us."
"Very cool!  Sally was so sweet ...Great to see them and get a break from the day and see their smiles."
"Very worthwhile. Great to take a break from college apps, classes, and other stressors to spend time with them."
"Very fun. Looking forward to next semester."
"Jane is super sweet and I'll always remember her and her friend Karlee trying to eat spaghetti out of my favorite book Strega Nona."

"Super fun experience, definitely a highlight of my senior year."
